“Make You Feel My Love” by Adele at Sugar Land Jr Superstar

Isabella winning 3rd place in Sugar Land Jr Superstar. She did amazing!! I was so proud that she was one of two who played guitar and sang. Although she placed 3rd, she was true to herself by singing “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele. 1st and 2nd place winners were good, but they sang songs from musicals where they could be more showy. She just isn’t that way. She sings for the enjoyment of it and rarely performs on stage. In fact, this is only the 3rd time she has been on stage – (1) her school talent show, (2) Asian Chamber singing the National Anthem as a favor to me, since I am chair, and (3) last night for Sugar Land Jr Superstar.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support her. She may not have won, but she had the loudest cheering section!! I know she really felt the love. I love our extended family!!

“Coat of Many Colors” by Dolly Parton

Isa received a callback to audition for a movie called Yellow Rose ( It’s about a young Filipina girl whose mother is being deported and she wants to stay in the US and sing country music. They have asked her to sing “Coat of Many Colors” by Dolly Parton as part of the audition. Even if she doesn’t get the part, I am still so proud of her! Wish us luck as the audition is tomorrow!

The National Anthem at the ACC Awards Dinner

I am currently the 2014 Chairman of the Board of the Asian Chamber of Commerce of Houston. Last night Isa sang the National Anthem at the Annual Awards Dinner. She sang in front of 500 people and wasn’t nervous at all. She has such poise at 11 years old. The National Anthem is such a hard song to sing and she absolutely nailed it. Amazing!

“If I Die Young” by The Band Perry

We are going to watch The Band Perry at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, so Isa decided to learn “If I Die Young”.

“Breakeven” by The Script

Isa worked on this song these last couple of these days of the Christmas break. It still amazes me how she can hit the high notes so easily. “Breakeven” by The Script has a lot of high notes, but she did it perfectly.

“Fix You” by Coldplay

I truly love my kids. Isa knew that I have been having a hard time and she sang this song to me – “Fix You” by Coldplay. This is the kind of stuff that puts everything into perspective. It brought a tear to my eye, but the good kind. No more sad tears. Thank you baby.

“Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane

Okay, let’s try this again. I tried to upload the video and for some reason the YouTube video wasn’t working. Hopefully it works this time. It’s been a while since she posted video because she has been busy with starting middle school. I am surprised she chose this song because it isn’t a mainstream song. I am always shocked to hear how deep her voice is. Such a little girl with a guy’s voice. Weird.
